Muirfield, Scotland

The world’s oldest golf club opened in 1744 in Gullane in Scotland and is home to the world’s oldest golfing society, the Honourable Company of Edinburg Golfers. Muirfield has hosted various championships throughout the years, 16 times to be exact and is a favorite for those who like a challenging game.The area is 117 acres, surrounded by stone walls with a total length of 6,6 thousand meters. Smooth green hills, the famous Scottish sky and fascinating, however sometimes difficult sections of the field (hole number 9 deserves special attention) attract golfers from around the world.

St.Andrews (Old course)

One of the world’s oldest and most iconic golf courses, the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland can be a challenge for even the best of golfers. The course has been played since the 15th century, and despite its fame, it remains open to the public. The Old Course has hosted the Open Championship a record 29 times, including most recently in 2015. Its primacy in the world of golf history cannot be approached and will remain forever incomparable.  The Old course is the authentic womb of the essence of the game as it was originally conceived.

The Ocean Course, South Carolina, USA

The Ocean Course is the most famous course at Kiawah Island, opened in 1991, it was designed by Pete and Alice Dye so that players have a view of the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean and constructed according to the wind rose, which makes the game harder and more exciting. It is considered one of the most difficult even for professionals. As a nice bonus – amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Capable of being played at over 7,900 yards from the back tees the course’s combination of hugesand dunes, thorny marshes, fiendish pot bunkers and super slick greens will reduce even the game’s best to rampant wrecks.

Cape Kidnappers, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand

Cape Kidnappers isn’t just a tough golf course, it’s a dangerous golf course with 183-meter cliffs plunging straight into the sea close to the edge of several fairways.

Designed by Tom Doak with many holes completely exposed to winds whipping in off the Pacific Ocean just keeping your ball on line is tough. Rumpled fairways, particularly on the front nine, throw shots into the rough and apparently good approaches can bounce on the putting surface and then run off into deep greenside bunkers. However it’s the back nine that are really tough, and spectacularly beautiful, with narrow strips of fairway running between cliffs and stretching gulfs filled with scrub, rough and trees.

The pros haven’t played a tournament here yet, but when they do it’ll be fascinating to see how they score.

Kauri Cliffs, Orlando, Florida USA

Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants, Orlando, Florida. The par 72 championship golf course measures 6,510 metres and offers five sets of tees to challenge every skill level. Fifteen holes view the Pacific Ocean, six of which are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea. Players can also access a world-class practice range, putting and chipping greens, a golf shop, and rental clubs at the golf complex. Kauri Cliffs is currently ranked #37 in the world by Golf Digest Top 100 Greatest Golf Courses in the World.
